Our Programs

Seven community-led programs restoring acacia habitats, safeguarding the Masai ostrich and building a new generation of conservationists.

Program 1

Acacia Habitats Restoration

Over 3,000 assorted acacia seedlings raised and planted in degraded sites. We train communities, institutions and organizations to identify, propagate, grow and manage acacia — and donate seeds and seedlings.

Kajiado County & partner schools

  • Seed collection and community nurseries
  • Hands-on propagation and tree-care training
  • Tree planting with schools and community groups
  • Donation of acacia seeds and seedlings
Program 2

Adopt an Ostrich Nest Program

We pioneered the Adopt an Ostrich Nest Initiative in Southern Kenya, where 237 juvenile Masai ostriches have been safeguarded. Community members and school youth identify, adopt and monitor nests every breeding season.

Southern Kenya · Magadi & Amboseli ecosystems

  • Identifying and mapping ostrich nests
  • Community and student nest adoption
  • Daily egg-count data collection
  • Training students on Masai ostrich ecology
Program 3

Community Empowerment

300 community members, 1,500 students and 50 teachers from 10 local learning institutions empowered on the ecological, cultural and socio-economic value of acacia habitats and their role in mitigating climate change.

10 local learning institutions

  • Community awareness forums
  • School conservation clubs and lessons
  • Teacher training workshops
  • Climate change and biodiversity education
Program 4

Saving Endangered Wildlife

Using the Masai ostrich as a flagship species, we engage the community to monitor the ecosystem and protect endangered wildlife — elephants, Masai giraffes, wild dogs, pangolins, leopard tortoises and vultures.

Acacia habitats of southern Kenya

  • Community wildlife monitoring
  • Habitat and ecosystem health checks
  • Camera-trap surveys
  • Awareness on threatened species

Sustainable Livelihood Activities

45 Langstroth beehives installed at Nairrabala Primary School with African Beekeepers Ltd — protecting pollinators, curbing charcoal burning and supplementing the school feeding program with honey.

Nairrabala Primary School

  • Installing and managing Langstroth beehives
  • Beekeeping training for community members
  • Honey harvesting and sales
  • Awareness on acacia–bee relationships
Program 6
